The Creative Writing Initiative
An Essay by

There is something at work in my soul, which I do not understand.
Mary Shelley
The immortal words of Mary Shelley come to mind when I think about writing. As a child I loved reading; and even dreamed of fantasies in my mind to help me deal with trauma I suffered though in life.
I have heard of stories like, Frankenstein, Around the World in 80 Days and even Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, Moby Dick among others. I wasn’t until I was in my thirties that I began to start reading these works. Some I am still reading for the first time.
I never thought that one day I would become a writer, let’s face it; I never learned to write in school other than what was on the board. I was never thought to take the thoughts in my mind and write them down.
So many great works of Literature go unread because they are no longer being taught in school. I see and talk to people my age and they never even heard of some of the Classics that I mentioned in this article.
What are they teaching in our schools if not the great works of Literature that used to be taught in school? I hear some of the stuff that are being taught on the news and I am shocked and amazed at the perversions that children are being taught at such an age as five years old. Books that some adults find so sexually explicit that not even they would read these works of Literature without feeling shock.
Now; I am not putting down Romance, or Paranormal Romance Genre, no; I my writing falls under the similar Gernes. I have combined numerous Genres into my writing it is hard to tell just where they fit. But I will admit one thing; they are sexually explicit and should not be read by people under the Age of Eighteen to be safe.
Truthfully; we need to go back to teach the Classics and even such works as Dragonlance and Dungeons and Dragons. Dragonlance and Dungeons and Dragons can be considered Classics on Modern Fantasy. I didn’t discover Dragonlance until I was eighteen and these wonderful books would lead me to create my, World of Six Moons in 2001.
I don’t know where I would be if not for Dragonlance. But I do know one thing; I may not be a writer if not for Dragonlance. For discovering the Books of Dragonlance I am forever grateful for the Writers of Dragonlance.
The point I am trying to make is this; we need to create, Creative Writing program I call, The Creative Writing Initiative, and go back to teaching kids the fundamentals of writing by making kids read the Classics. By making this program a part of Graduation; kids will no lover grow up Illiterate and have a basic understanding of Literature.
Literature used to be taught in schools but these days the only things that are taught of Politics things that Students should only learn in Social Studies and Political Science Class. Kids should be taught to read, write and manage a Budget not the Shit that is being taught in schools today,
I wish I could have learned to write in school but being in Special Ed; teachers were nothing more than Babysitters. Another thing that should be taught is how to treat one another with respect and dignity and get ride of Political and Social Status that students live by today because of where they come from or how much money they have.
Kids need to be taught that, All Mankind or Created Equal and make this set in the mindsets of our students. Maybe one day; students will learn how to be better human beings and stop acting like animals.
I hope that, The Creative Writing Initiative is one day implemented and the Classics are taught to our students starting from five-years-old instead of waiting until they go to college. But students should only be allowed to read Age-Appropriate Works not Pornographic Works meant for adults. There are so many Works of Literature that children can enjoy if they were only introduced to these great Works.
With every Generation in America; we are becoming more and more ignorant that we can’t even tell we are being lied to nor can we even mange a budget. Mankind has so much potential if only Mankind would give up being so selfish and Narcissistic and think of others besides himself if we ever want to live a society like we see and read about in Star Trek.
We have a long way to go; so, let us work towards being better by passing, The Creative Wiring Initiative and teach our children about the Classics. Teach you children how to write and make learning who to write and tell stories fun.
