A Desire to Better Oneself.
An Essay by

As a fervent reader of the Classics thanks to my Kindle, Amazon and the Delphi Classics. I can read so much Literature from centuries ago; mainly Biographies of writers whose lives interest me.
I never learned how to write in school being Mentally Disabled and in Special Ed. The furthest I got was only the third grade. I am forty-two years old and have a desire to learn what I never learned in school to better my pursuits in writing.
I know there are ways to learn thanks to the internet. But what do you do if you live in an area where internet usage is severely limited. I have so much trouble just using Facebook; talking to writers and authors that I constantly run out of data. I can’t even use Grammarly Premium to edit my work and sometimes I can’t even send work to my Publisher except at certain times of the month.
Delphi Classics is teaching me so much and I am thankful of having access to all the Literature of Times Past. Literature and Writing holds a special place in my heart. Amazon has given me unimaginable access to all manners of Literature. Facebook and the internet gives people the ability to reach our to Authors, Poets and all manner of Literate that I have learned so much since 2020 when I opened my Facebook account.
I even met a publisher who publishes my Works without charging to a thing to publish for which I am thankful. I don’t know what I would have done with out her. Since meeting her I have published four additional Works. The first two I paid to get published with my first publisher if it wasn’t for Facebook, I would only have two Works published instead of six.
I am still in the process of switching my first two Works over to her do to some problems with Amazon. We are trying to works things out so I am not worried.
One of my goals in to improve my education with workbooks and the Internet when I get better Internet access so I can encourage others to read and write with my Works. I have come across some people who are half my age and have never heard of such things as, Around the world in eighty days or twenty thousand leagues under the sea.
I will admit that I have heard of these things but didn’t have access to them until I was in my late thirties before I got my first Kindle. People just don’t know what they are missing by not having access to Literature.
I don’t know what they teach in schools these days, I dropped out in 1996 when I was fifteen due to a lack of learning. I would fall in love with Star Trek books when I was twelve and move on to Fantasy and other works when I turned eighteen.
Reading, Writing and Arithmetic should be the main things that schools focus on educating the students. Especially Literature I never did well at sports and PE and I hated PE. I was more into books than I was into sports so I hardly ever played them after leaving Alternative School returning to public school where I would face Bullies and the Politics of the bureaucracy of the Administrators.
If I complained about being bullied I would get suspended, even if the teachers seen the students assaulting me. I would get suspended. I didn’t want to put up with this nonsense and dropped out in January 1996.
It was the best decision I would ever make. I would focus on reading and eventually start writing in 2001. Thought it would be another sixteen years before I published my first Work and I would pay $3,200 to do so.
I learned everything about writing by reading but I never learned the rules of Language Arts or Writing. I have Workbooks I need to work in. I just need to make time and get rid of all the distractions that is impeding me and work in them.
Since 2001; I have written well over Fifty thousand pages worth of writing and counting. Sometimes it upsets me to hear people put themselves down saying, “I could never write a book.” This is a lie that they have convinced themselves with and this is what is holding them back.
Anyone could write a Novel or Short Story if they would sit down and devote time to writing. I have over one hundred Works in Progress and if I would devote more time to writing I would have over One hundred thousand Pages of writing may a lot more.
I work when I can and when I don’t have any distractions interfering with my writing. So don’t sell yourself short thinking you could never write a Novel or Short Story. You can and if you set your mind to writing you will.
