Reminiscence of a Writer
Episode 01. Finding Your Voice
We all have a voice; some of us find it early, while others suffer tragedy before they find their Voice. Mary Shelley suffered tragedy, Hardship, and heartbreak before discovering her Voice and writing her masterpiece, Frankenstein.
Frankenstein would change the course of Humanity and Literature forever. Where would we be if Mary Shelly hadn’t listened to the Voice of her Father when he said, “Rid yourself of the thoughts and words of other people, Mary. Find your own Voice.”
Well, for one thing, we would not have the Novel Frankenstein, which became one of the Greatest Works of Literature in History.
Sadly, some people never listen to that Voice whispering in their heads and never put pen to paper. What we are missing is anyone’s guess. What would our lives be if they had listened to that Voice?
Literature is one of the Fundamental bedrocks of a Civilized society. Without it, we would be no different than Barbarians with no thoughts of our own—just mindless existence. It is up to us to listen to that Voice, put pen to paper, and share our knowledge with the world.
So many works have molded and shaped our world, many of which we could never have come this far without. As an avid reader, my life has been shaped and molded into the Man and Writer I am today. I know many people can say that some Work of Literature has influenced their lives and led them to make decisions that led to success or even failure. But they would never have known if they would have succeeded or failed if they hadn’t read said Work.
What is essential is that they listened to that Voice and tried. Whether they succeeded or failed is immaterial. All that matters is they tried.
So you must ask yourself whether that Voice is worth listening to.
